James 1:5-12

Last week we began the first of a two part series on trials. We noted from James’ letter to the Jewish believers that we as followers of Christ are called to walk in our trials in three ways:

  1. With an attitude of joy.

  2. With a confidence that God is at work in and

    through our trials.

  3. With a submissive attitude toward the work God

is accomplishing in us through our circumstances.

This week we will continue examining from James 1 how we are to walk in our trials.

James 1:1-4

Often we find ourselves in the middle of difficult situations the Bible describes as “trials”. Our natural depraved response is to attempt to avoid trials all together. And if we are unsuccessful in avoiding trials then we try to get through them as fast as we can. But what if we slowed down and instead of focusing all of our energy on trying to get through the trials we walked in the trials with the biblical perspective? James calls us to a biblical perspective in chapter one of his letter. Lets check out James’ exhortation to his readers and see if we need to change our approach to the trials God graciously brings us into.
