3. The Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Mark 1:1, Assorted Scriptures

As I have stated in the past weeks, the purpose of this series is for us to learn “Who Jesus is”! Therefore, in order for us to really know "Who Jesus is” we must truly live out the most important commandment that Jesus gave in Mark 12:28-31:

“And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, ‘Which commandment is the most important of all?’ 29 Jesus answered, ‘The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.’”

Therefore, as believers and followers of Jesus Christ, it’s our privilege and responsibility to cherish our Lord, to love our Lord God with all our heart and to honor Him for all that He is and all that He has done for us. Then and only then will we be able to understand and comprehend the fullness of Christ and His love for mankind including ourselves.

So, I’ll ask you again this week, do you know “Who Jesus is” beyond, “He’s my Savior” or “He’s the Son of God”? You may want to ask, What does "The Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" have to do with Who is Jesus? It speaks to His purpose, His introduction to the world by the Angels, John the Baptist, and to His work and His deity. So, let’s begin our study in Mark 1:1.
