3. The Mystery

Hebrews 10:1-18

Last week's text in Matthew chapter 1 showed us how it came to be that Jesus would be born. The angel came to Mary to tell her she would bare a son. The angel also came to Joseph and told him not to be afraid. The child Mary carried would be called Jesus and He would save the people from their sin. This was Old Testament prophecy fulfilled. But WHY did Jesus have to come? In the Old Testament we read of a sacrificial system that was already in place. Was there a problem with the sacrificial system?

Our text, today, will take us to the book of Hebrews.  We'll see that the coming of Jesus Christ was all part of God's plan. The Old Testament pointed toward the coming of Jesus the Messiah. His coming and His death on the cross fulfilled all that the old sacrificial system pointed toward. Let's look together at WHY Jesus came and what it means to us today.
